KOTOBA Club Literakoya is
registered as a community club activity organization in Niigata City in August 2024. The main purpose of this club is for junior high school students whose mother tongue is not Japanese to get together after school to study Japanese and take supplementary lessons in their subjects, while deepening exchanges and acquiring higher language communication skills. Junior high school students whose native language is Japanese are also welcome to participate.
ことばクラブ りてらこや は
2024年8月に新潟市の地域クラブ活動団体として登録されました。本クラブでは、主に日本語が母語でない生徒が放課後集まって、互いの得意な言語を活かして、相互に日本語や教科を学び合うことを通じて、言語スキルを高め、相互交流を深めることを目的としています。ただし、日本語が母語の生徒の参加も可能です。学力向上が目的ではなく、ボランティア精神で互いに学び合う姿勢をもって、異文化コミュニケーションやソーシャルスキルの向上を目指す生徒の参加を歓迎します。
Requests for Parents and Guardians
☆In our club, there are many students from diverse backgrounds. Sometimes, conflicts arise due to cultural differences among students. Of course, our staff will do their best to prevent such conflicts, but misunderstandings can still occur. I hope you can help your children, and please don't hesitate to let us know if they feel uncomfortable at the club.
☆Learning to read and write in Japanese is extremely difficult. Please encourage your children to learn Japanese, even if they can speak it fluently. Learning daily conversation and mastering school subjects in Japanese are totally different. Don't expect your children's grades to improve immediately, but praise them a lot if their scores go up even a little, if they learn even one Kanji character, or if they make even one friend.
日本語母語の生徒の保護者の方へ
☆このクラブには、多様な文化的背景を持つ生徒が集まっています。日本語のあまり得意でない生徒もいます。そのせいで、学校の他の教科の勉強が遅れてしまっている生徒もいます。その場合は、他の学年の勉強をすることもありますのが、そっとしておいてくださるよう、お子さんにお伝えください。また、日本語の発音を笑うことは、日本語話者が英語をしゃべって笑われるのと同じで、とても嫌な気分になるだけでなく、学習意欲がなくなります。指導者も注意しますが、ご家庭でも是非、お話しください。
☆このクラブでは、指導者が生徒に教えるだけでなく、生徒間での学び合いも行います。指導者が全員に同じだけ指導できないこともありますし、教えることが多い生徒もいれば、習うことが多い生徒もいます。それでも、私は、場を共有することに価値があると考えていますので、会費は一律です。ご理解いただけますよう、お願い申し上げます。

How much is the membership fee? 会費（部費）はいくらですか。1,000 yen per month, but if you pay for the whole year together in April, it is 10,000 yen. 月1000円ですが、4月に1年分まとめてお支払いいただくと、1万円です。

If we need to move in the middle of the year, is the membership fee refundable? 1年分会費（部費）を払って、年度途中で転校が決まった場合、会費（部費）はどうなりますか。If you move before October 1st, we will refund you 5,000 yen, but we cannot issue a refund after that. Sorry for the inconvenience. 10月1日以前に転校する場合、半額5000円お返しします。それ以降の場合は、申し訳ありませんが、お返しできません。ご了承ください。転校の可能性のある場合は、月ごとのお支払いをお勧めします。

Is the membership fee (club fee) lower if I cannot attend all days of the week? 全部の曜日に参加できない場合は会費（部費）は安くなりますか。Sorry, it's 1000yen, even if you can come only once or ten times. すみません、1回しか来なくても、10回来ても、1ヶ月千円です。

Ｗho is the representative of thie club? 代表はどのような人ですか。She, Kaori SASAKI teaches Japanese to foreign students at the university while running a volunteer group that supports literacy education. She also teaches children in primary and junior high schools in Niigata City as a part-time tutor dispatched by the Niigata City Education Board. Who are the instructor (volunteers)? 指導員はどのような人ですか。All instructors of registered Communitiy Club Activity Organizations in Niigata City must take the online course designated by Niigata City. Furthermore, our instructors are university students or graduates students who can speak foreign languages, as well as Japanese language teachers who are familiar with communicating with foreign students. 地域クラブ活動登録団体の指導者は、全員新潟市が指定するオンライン講座を受けています。これに加えて「ことばクラブりてらこや」の指導は、外国語が話せる大学生、大学院生、日本語教師など、外国から来た生徒とのかかわりに慣れた人が担当します。

Can student's parent take part in this club as a volunteer or an instructor ? 保護者が指導者（ボランティア）として参加することはできますか。To become an instructor, you are required to take a course in accordance with the regulations for instuctors of community club activities in Niigata City, as well as to practice a certain number of times under the supervision of the KOTOBA Club Literakoya. Then you can register and participate as an instructor (volunteer). To take part in as a volunteer to support the instructors and students, you can join under the supervition of the representatives. 指導者になるには、新潟市の地域クラブ活動の指導者の規定に沿って、講習を受けるとともに、ことばクラブりてらこやの監督下で一定回数実習をしていただきます。そうすれば、指導者（ボランティア）として登録し、参加していただくことができます。ただし、お子さんがすでにクラブに在籍している場合は、お子さんとよくご相談ください。（中学生の生徒の中には、親がいる時に、友だちと関わるのを見られたくない、という生徒もいますので。）また、ボランティアとして補助的にお手伝いただく場合は、代表が参加している場合に限り、ご参加いただけます。

日本語母語話者の生徒が、英語を学ぶことはできますか。日本語が母語でない生徒が学校の英語のワークや教科書の勉強する際に、一緒に学ぶことはできますが、英会話学校や、英語の塾のような指導は期待しないでください。生徒が英語で英語がわかる非日本語母語の生徒と会話するなどして、自然と英会話力を高められる環境がある場合もありますが、英語のほうがよくわかる生徒が必ずいるとは限りません。
